A pool within a pool

Mr & Mrs Spurr inherited a large and deep pool surrounded by an enclosure that was past its best and unsightly.

We were brought in to reduce the size and depth of the pool, create a new pool surround, build a new plantroom and finish off the project with a new telescopic enclosure.

The old pool had a gradual sloping floor to a maximum depth of 10 feet. Our first task was to bring up the floor level to the eventual finished constant depth of 3ft 6in. This was done by pumping concrete from the boundary of the property – some 75m distance! Once this was completed we then built new walls on two sides of the pool to the finished size of 28ft by 14ft. At this point, a roman end was fitted for easier access to the pool.

New fittings and pipework were installed and routed back to the new plantroom location and the existing enclosure was deconstructed. New coping stones were fitted and the void between the old walls and new backfilled.

The pool surround and shell were screeded and a new Certikin liner fitted. The plantroom was then fitted out with new pump, filter and gas boiler and a composite rubber flooring fitted to the immediate pool surround.

The telescopic cover was then fitted and the area around was fully landscaped with paving stones interspersed with brick built planting areas.

The final result was a stunning new pool sympathetic with the house and barely recognisable from the structure that was in place previously.
